BioInspireSensing

May 14, 2025

The BioInspireSensing project is a European research and training initiative funded under the Horizon 2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (Grant Agreement No. 955643), where the Innovation in Materials and Molecular Engineering (IMEM) group plays a significant role in advancing the project's objectives.

It aims to develop a new generation of bioinspired implantable sensors that can monitor parameters such as pressure, temperature, and acidity within the human body. These sensors are made from hybrid materials combining natural molecules and synthetic biopolymers, ensuring they are biocompatible and bioresorbable, thus eliminating the need for surgical removal. The project also offers a transnational training network for PhD students, combining research with industry placements and skills workshops.
