PlasTHER (Therapeutical Applications of Cold Plasma) is a COST Action initiative coordinated by Dr. Cristina Canal from the Biomaterials, Biomechanics and Tissue Engineering (BBT) group at the Barcelona Center for Research in Multiscale Science and Engineering (CCEM Barcelona).

It brings together researchers, clinicians, industry professionals, and patient associations from 24 countries to explore the medical potential of cold atmospheric plasmas (CAPs). This interdisciplinary network focuses on developing innovative therapies for cancer treatment, wound healing, tissue regeneration, and combating drug-resistant pathogens. By fostering collaboration across disciplines, PlasTHER aims to harmonize research protocols, share advancements in plasma medicine, and position Europe as a leader in this emerging field. The initiative also emphasizes training and knowledge dissemination to translate scientific discoveries into clinical applications.​
