Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometry

Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometry

The general purpose of the Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometer (ICP-OES) is to perform elemental analysis of liquid samples with organic and/or aqueous matrix. It uses an Ar+ plasma to ionize the atoms and uses the radiation emitted by the ions in the plasma to discriminate the desired analytes. It is a very powerful technique to analyze all type of samples such as environmental samples. It is extremely recommended for samples with high concentration of metals and salts between 10 µg/l and 600 mg/l (depending on the analyte). Our equipment is 5100 ICP-OES from Agilent Technologies.
