The Innovation in Materials and Molecular Engineering (IMEM) group focuses on the design, synthesis, and characterization of advanced nanomaterials. The group develops nanosystems based on conducting polymers, including submicro- and nanometric multilayered structures and polymer-clay nanocomposites for various applications. They also work on electroactive nanosensors for detecting specific nucleotide sequences and drugs, and in developing materials for regenerative medicine. The laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for polymer synthesis, nanostructure characterization, and electrochemical analysis. 

Their research is focused on:

• Nanosystems based on conducting polymers, including multilayered and polymer-clay nanostructures.

• Electroactive nanosensors for detecting nucleotide sequences and drugs.

• Development of nanocompounds from biodegradable polymers using modified laminar clays (group A) and polymeric nanofibers via electrospinning (group B).

• Structural and morphological studies, crystallization processes, and material properties for diverse applications.
