Bojos per l'Enginyeria de Materials

Jan 20, 2026

CCEM has launched the “Bojos per l'Enginyeria de Materials” course, as part of the Fundació Catalunya La Pedrera’s “Bojos per la Ciència” programme. Seventeen selected students are experiencing hands-on materials science research, culminating in a final scientific congress.

Last Saturday, January 17, we kicked off the first edition of the "Bojos per l'Enginyeria de Materials" course, which is part of the “Bojos per la Ciència” programme promoted by the Fundació Catalunya La Pedrera, with the aim of fostering scientific vocations among young students.

This edition brings together 17 selected highschool students (10 girls and 7 boys), coming from across Catalonia: 14 from the Barcelona area, 2 from Tarragona, and 1 from Girona. Participants will experience first-hand the daily work of researchers through an active, hands-on learning approach in our facilities and laboratories.

The programme is structured into four modules covering materials science fundamentals, applied workshops in health, energy and environment, the development of a supervised research project, and a final scientific congress. Throughout the course, students will work with cutting-edge technologies, including 3D-printed cellular structures, advanced biomaterials, shape-memory materials and solar energy technologies. The programme will conclude on May 16 with a final scientific congress at the EEBE, where students will present their research results to families and the CCEM scientific community.
