Dr. Helton José Alves (Laboratorio de Materiales y Energías Renovables / NAPI Hidrogênio de Paraná, Brazil) is an international leader in the field of renewable energy and a specialist in the development of novel technological pathways for sustainable fuel production. As a leading figure in the advancement of clean energy materials, his work is redefining how regional biomass resources and advanced catalytic systems can be leveraged to expand the possibilities of global economic decarbonization.

In this CCEM Talk, it will be explored how hydrogen production technology is transitioning toward scalable renewable sources to address the urgent demands of the global energy transition. Dr. Alves will present the current opportunities and challenges inherent to this shift, placing a special emphasis on the utilization of biomass as a strategic feedstock for low-carbon hydrogen production via the catalytic dry reforming of methane. Through the lens of cutting-edge materials science and chemical engineering, the session will illustrate the critical technological hurdles associated with this pathway, demonstrating how innovative catalyst design can optimize efficiency and mitigate deactivation.

This seminar represents a unique opportunity to learn firsthand about the latest advances at the interface of advanced materials characterization, renewable energy systems, and the future of low-carbon hydrogen technologies for global decarbonization.
