Confocal laser scanning microscopy

Confocal laser scanning microscopy

Confocal laser scanning microscopy is an optical imaging technique that allows sequential sample scan and that assembles the voxel information to one image.  The special pinhole blocks out-of-focus light giving this technique high resolution and contrast in X, Y and Z.  It is primarily used for examining cell and tissue cultures previously stained with fluorescent dyes. Our equipment is Carl ZEISS LSM 800.
